Mammoth (Plant Pot)

Contact info@paddypike.com for purchase enquiries. Custom finishes available upon request. Available in bronze.

The Mammoth is cast in resin, with a dark brown patina. Its form takes inspiration from The Elephant Celebes by Max Ernst, which in turn was inspired by a photograph of a Konkombwa - a huge African barrel for storing corn. The handles of the pot along with the fold in the side give a modern twist on the early surrealist influence, depicting movement to resemble the growing life of the plant inside.

The designer looks at the references in a playful way, resulting in a lively piece with a humorous energy allowing the spectator to take it as seriously or trivially as they want. Nevertheless, while the form will provoke thought, its brown patina will not take away from the natural beauty of the plant housed in it.

Holes in the bottom of the main body make the pot breathable thereby preventing the plant from being over-watered. The water is collected in the base, which is engineered to easily slot onto the body ensuring a tidy and practical product for the user. Mammoth can be situated indoors or outdoors.
